Today, safety has become a commitment that shows the transport companies’ quality and social responsibility towards the environment and their collaborators. For that reason, together with Conaset, we decided to give the RAEV Award: Chile’s Safest Fleet and recognize the significant development of transport fleets that have been able to reduce the risk from speeding, thus preventing accidents.
In the leading category, the winner was SQM Transporte Terrestre, who, with a fleet of over 330 vehicles, were able to set a RAEV (risk of accidents from speeding) record of 5.5 units of risk per 100 km. The award was received by SQM’s Transport Manager, Rodrigo Jasen, who referred to commitment to road safety: “We are convinced that it is possible to have zero accidents. And we have an obligation and a commitment to strict compliance in safety, on the road and with the communities we travel through.
Additionally, in the second category for carriers, the award went to Transportes Nazar who, with a mining fleet of 45 vehicles in average and over 100 drivers, achieved considerable improvements in productivity and risk management, and was able to reduce accident rates sevenfold. The transport fleet set a RAEV record of 3.3 units of risk per 100 km. In this category, the award was received by Diego Nazar, Director of Transportes Nazar.
“Safety and productivity objectives are not contrary; we were able to demonstrate it. Productivity is strongly related to the trip cycle, but it depends not only on speed, but also on loading and unloading times, administrative processes, rest periods and many other variables we can improve. Safety is a social responsibility of ours. People and collaborators may die for reasons that can be prevented today,” said Diego Nazar, Director of Transportes Nazar.
We congratulate the two winners, SQM Transporte Terrestre and Transportes Nazar, as well as the more than 54 transport fleets that work with us and achieved a significant improvement in their management of risk.
